Medicine

The undergraduate Medicine course offered at UNISC trains professionals with overall view and comprehensive training offered through multilevel interdisciplinary practices, which will qualify them in basic fields – Clinical Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics and Collective Health – dealing with different health attention situations. The degree focuses primarily in interdisciplinary and multi-professional practices that go beyond the ones offered in isolated courses.

One of the main guidelines in which UNISC’s Medicine undergraduate course is based in is having its professionals to work in different programs offered by the Brazilian Health System, thus, it has built a curriculum that allows the students to enter the Unified Health System (SUS) from the first semesters until they start their internships. Moreover, learning possibilities based on problem solving and interdisciplinary debates help reaching the professional profile the Institution requires the students to have.

In order to reach its training goals, the undergraduate course relies on a qualified teaching staff that knows well the epidemiological profile of the region the University is inserted in. Furthermore, the Institution owns an excellent infrastructure that includes Hospital Santa Cruz (the biggest general hospital in the region, already working for the community for over 100 years), an Outpatient Care Unit, Basic Health Units and local regional charitable organizations.

Regarding practices and internships, the Medicine course offered by UNISC keeps covenants with hospitals located in Porto Alegre/RS and the main cities of the Rio Grande do Sul State.
